FairField County Beauty Beat

I always think of fall as the season that starts the new year. The kids are back in school and the summer is over. It’s time to turn over a new leaf.

The first step is eradicating the sun damage you sustained while enjoying your summer basking in the sunshine. We are all guilty of it. My friend Sheila has the most perfect, fair, spotless complexion. I asked her what her secret is and she said, "Obagi". Obagi is a line of skincare systems developed by a dermatologist. Obagi Nuderm system consists of a cleanser, toner, and miracle product called Clear that contains hydroquinone to combat pigmentation, age spots and uneven skin tone. The system also uses Retin-A or Renova, depending on your skin type, that you blend with a hydroquinone cream. These Vitamin A creams stimulate the renewal of healthy skin cells and the blender cream helps to lessen the irritation some people experience with retinoids. The finishing product is, of course, sunscreen Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35. I have been using Nuderm for two weeks now and feel my pores are tighter, the lines on my forehead are less visible and my skin glows. The Obagi Nuderm system is available at Greenwich Medical Skincare Laser Spa, 1345 E. Putnam Ave., Riverside, 637-0662.

Now that your skin is glowing, it may be time to update your make-up palette. Fall calls for a little more coverage and I swear by Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, Oil-free Foundation and Secret Concealer for a flawless face that looks like you're not wearing make-up. Also try Stickgloss in Pomegranate, a universally flattering brown-red shade that gives your lips a sheer wash of color. Complete the look with Crème Eye Duo in Daydream and Eyebrow Pencil to define your brows. The ladies at the Laura Mercier counter at Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich are very helpful and can guide you to the right products for your skin tone and coloring.

For those of you with naturally curly tresses, you may be interested in the Keratin Hair Straightening process at Warren Tricomi, 1 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich, 863-9300. My friend Diane has fabulous, thick, wavy hair but was tired of spending 45 minutes drying her hair or paying for a blow-out once a week. She went to Warren Tricomi for their keratin hair straightening process and said her hair is now much easier to manage. She can either air dry her hair for a natural wave that isn’t frizzy, or blow-dry it in fifteen minutes vs. forty-five. She said her also feels softer and healthier. The treatment will last three to four months.
