| ALLAN AND TAMARA HOUSTON AND SAMUEL OWEN GALLERY PRESENT ASA JACKSON “NEW WORKS” ART EXHIBITION INTERPRETATIONS OF HUMAN NATURE, CULTURE AND HISTORY Opening Reception March 1; Runs Through March 22 On March 1st, the Samuel Owen Gallery located on 378 Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich will open “New Works” by Asa Jackson – an exhibition of paintings that depict the artist's interpretation of human nature, as well as historical, cultural and philosophical subjects. This debut Fairfield County showing by the artist will be co-presented by collectors of Asa’s work, New York Knicks Assistant General Manager Allan Houston and his wife, Tamara Houston. The exhibition will continue through March 22 at the gallery and is free and open to the public. Over 40 oil, acrylic and oil pastel paintings will be on exhibition. Ranging in size and scale from 12" x16" to as large as 4.5 ft. by 8.5 ft., Jackson’s paintings are rich in thoughtful narrative and inspiring philosophy that are realized through a powerful, energetic use of colors and imagery. Based in Newport, Virginia, Asa Jackson seemed destined to be an artist from an early age, steadily endeavoring in painting and drawing under the encouragement and inspiration of his family, who were artists themselves. His greatest inspiration to paint comes from his own life experiences and self-reflection, and he often explores historical and spiritual subjects. “Often times when I am painting, almost in a shamanistic way does the subject matter appear to me; usually being something I am going through in everyday life, or even historical events or people who may have significance to me,” says Jackson. “I am an avid reader of spiritual and historical texts so at times, my will reflect spiritual truths and historical scenes.” For more information, contact 203-432-6500 or info@samuelowen.com. | ||||
