| Sunday, April 15th 2:30pm Artist Talk 3:00pm Film Screening followed by Q&A Film Documentary Screening “Redlight,” Artist Talk, and Q&A Prior to the screening of the film documentary Redlight, meet Silvermine Guild Artist member, Jocelyn Braxton Armstrong at 2:30pm in the Galleries. Ms. Armstrong will discuss her work in her current exhibit “I am She” and the relationship to the documentary. She will join the film’s director, Guy Jacobson, after the film for the Q&A. Redlight is an inspiring and powerful feature documentary that exposes and chronicles the tragedies and injustices of the international child-trafficking industry. Narrated and produced by UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and actress Lucy Liu, Redlight was filmed over a four year period in Cambodia focusing on the personal stories of these young victims and two remarkable advocates for change: grass-roots activist Somaly Mam and politician Mu Sochua. Both individuals have since been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and won other numerous human rights awards around the world. Using footage smuggled out of the brothels and harrowing testimonials, Redlight follows the plight of several current and former exploited children. Some are trying to regain entry into the Cambodian society to find a semblance of normality after their horrific experiences. Other stories highlight the plight of victims who are attempting to bring perpetrators to justice. Their ultimately heroic battles to find witnesses and take brothel owners to court are dramatically brought to life in this topical and moving feature documentary. A question and answer session will follow the screening with Director and producer Guy Jacobson. Mr. Jacobson is a filmmaker and global activist who founded the Redlight Children Campaign, a nonprofit organization aimed at ending all forms of child trafficking. He was honored with the U.S. State Department’s prestigious Global Hero Award in 2008 for his efforts in the fight against child sex trafficking.
