On Thursday, November 17, Community Centers, Inc. of Greenwich, held its annual, “Festive Giving” fundraiser at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich. Dr. Ernest B. Fleishman, former superintendent of the Greenwich Public Schools, was presented the annual Barbara Nolan Community Service Award for his outstanding contribution to education. Over 150 guests attended this event and partied to the music of the award-winning Short Bus band.

Dr. Fleishman is known for helping educators improve student literacy rates toward lessening the achievement gap, and developing effective school leaders. He has been a long-time defender of racial tolerance and promoting diversity. Festive Giving not only celebrated the achievements of Dr. Fleishman but also the ongoing programs utilized by over 1100 Greenwich citizens and provided by Community Centers, Inc. of Greenwich.

Community Centers, Inc. of Greenwich (CCI) is a non-profit social service agency working with those who might otherwise be left out of community life. The purpose of the organization is to promote the personal and social potential of the members of the Greenwich community who are economically marginalized, have special needs or are isolated from the mainstream. CCI of Greenwich offers a combination of education and therapeutic recreational programs, individual, family, group counseling, and advocacy. Its effectiveness lies in its responsiveness to the needs of its clients.
