More than 100 invited guests attended a reception on November 30th at the Yale Club highlighting Transplant Surgery: The Science, the Story and Yale. Steering committee members Heather Thomson Schindler and Samantha Sheeber Kellner opened the event by sharing very personal and heartfelt stories about their children and their experience with Dr. Sukru Emre, Professor of surgery and Chief, Section of Transplantation and Immunology at Yale School of Medicine. They were followed by Dr. Robert Udelsman, the William H. Carmalt Professor of Surgery and Oncology and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine who shared the magic that happens in the operating room when Dr. Emre is in command. The evening concluded with Heather and Sam presenting a check from the Kellner Family Pediatric Liver Disease Foundation in the amount of $250,000 to support the efforts of Dr. Emre and the entire transplant team at Yale School of Medicine.
