Carlisle Launches Spring 2012 Collections

The Carlisle Showroom proudly launched the Spring lines for both Carlisle and Per Se with two busy standing-room only Spring Preview Runway events this month showing women are truly ready to shake off the winter blues. The main attraction was hearing directly from the NYC-based designers themselves -- with Carlisle's Lead Designer, Charles Resnick enticing women with a new view on how to infuse color blocking, texture and print into your wardrobe and Per Se's Lead Designer, Susan Klope wooing women with the must-haves from her Per Se Collection including her homage to vintage beauty with lace redefined and Bardot inspired South of France get-away wear.

“Spring is my favorite time of year, and that’s reflected in both of our new collections’ celebration of colors and textures. Our palette of color pulls from juicy, earthy, maritime and urban – cut with tumbled metals for subtle shine,” said Susan Klope, Lead Designer of the Per Se Collection. “These collections are packed with personality. Each garment is a perfect little something new. We’re mad for eyelets, embroideries, appliqués; it’s Artisan-inspired texture. Color blocking is redefined and we embraced the use of softer, sexier leathers. Mad Men looks continue with some downtown girl style with 60s polish. Our prints are executed like modern art pieces. Plus there are timeless, romantic nautical pieces inspired by the South of France.”

Key points for the audience included how Carlisle and Per Se pride themselves in their commitment to excellence with fabrics coming from the same mills as such designers as Oscar de la Renta. Nothing is ever taken for granted in the details -- whether it's the dry-cleanable leather piping on the jet black lace Paparazzi tunic from Per Se or the 60 hours it took to create each basket weave show stopper Signal skirt from Carlisle -- a design that Resnick describes as a sophisticated take on the pot-holders we made in camp, only this is done with incredible pops of color using grosgrain ribbons on a backdrop of black linen.

For women who missed out on the preview shows, the Carlisle and Per Se designers recommend a visit to the showroom to exploring the following trends to freshen-up your wardrobe for a Winter get-away or a clean Spring look:

1) Lace And Embroidery Redefined

A cut above. Less frilly and flirty. More executive sweet. Actresses including Cate Blanchett, Kate Bosworth and Claire Danes have been spotted taking the lead with this updated lace trend in both bright colors and muted tones. Our homage to vintage beauty, the collection standouts this season include a sequined hand-embroidered raffia A-line and a crisp black lace tunic over a marble silk georgette slip.

2) Avant-Garde Appliqués

Exquisite workmanship. Atelier-inspired. Featured looks for the season include a braid-trimmed jacket fringed with printed organza, skirts appliquéd with layers of supple glove leather on silk and eyelash embroidery on wool crepe.

3) Supple Leather Silhouettes

Liquid. Laser-cut. Soft leather that’s sexier than ever. Actress Paula Patton owned this leather trend on the red carpet, and Blake Lively has been spotted showing it off with bold outerwear. Standout looks in this season’s collection include a jacket featuring foil-glazed granite suede that drapes like liquid metal and buttery driftwood laser-cut into petal-like rosettes.

4) 3d Prints & Color Blocking

Modern. Brights set off by graphic white. Brush-stroked. The collection features an architecturally color-blocked crepe de chine blouse, a citrusy dip-dyed sweater and a crinkled patent jacket paired with an orange cigarette pant. The 3D trend is found in a hand-fringed silk woodblock print topper and in skirts that capture Calder-like shapes and an abstract brush-stroked horizon.

5) South Of France Nautical

Shades of St-Tropez. Modern “la marinière” meets Bardot. Model Miranda Kerr has been seen embodying sophistication with this timeless mariner style. A French sailor-striped jersey in navy, silver and white with mirrored buttons and a chiffon tie is a standout piece in the collection. A relaxed bow-tie top nods to a chic 60’s Bardot when paired with a little white pant.

6) Natural Appeal Textures

Tribal. Earthy. Multi-dimensional. Emma Stone and Eva Mendez are fans of this earthy trend featuring textured garments in organic tones. Exemplary garments in the collection that feature this trend include a raffia-woven structured jacket and a hand-embroidered silk skirt, along with a rustic silk hand-loomed jacket lined in silk habutai for contrast.

In all, Carlisle and Per Se’s designers have come up with over 500 unique pieces for Spring, available in sizes 0 to 18, that work both separately and in unison to give women the most exciting wardrobes possible for their money.
